The DAO continues to support KevinOnEarth’s content creation efforts in Decentraland. You can see the results of the last grant in the last Community Grants Update.

Polls

Following is a list of pending polls brought to the DAO.

Buying back LAND and restructuring the LAND business!

  • Yeah, sounds good. – 688,756 VP (8 votes) 46%
  • Nah, that won’t work. – 801,855 VP (11 votes) 54%

The DAO Committee likes this idea but recommends further discussion on the specifics. If the community is interested in this idea, research and discussion should be conducted in preparation for another more in-depth proposal.

No action will be taken by the DAO Committee.

Allow the DAO to recover lost assets

  • For: Upgrade Decentraland’s smart contracts to empower the DAO to regain control of lost assets – 1,353,868 VP (19 votes) 30%
  • Against: Do not upgrade Decentraland’s smart contracts to empower the DAO to regain control of lost assets – 3,069,460 VP (20 votes) 69%
  • Other: Revise the structure and terms of the proposal. – 9,650 VP (2 votes) 1%

This proposal was noted within the community and generated lots of discussion about the core purpose of the Decentraland project.

The DAO Committee agrees with the DAO that this proposal is too risky for all LAND holders and the ultimate decentralization of the project and recommends investing in education and processes to prevent the loss of LAND.

No action will be taken by the DAO Committee.

Create a new grant tier to fund the development of play-to-earn games

  • For: Approve the addition of the play-to-earn grant tier – 4,240,444 VP (17 votes) 55%
  • Against: Reject the addition of the play-to-earn grant tier – 696,774 VP (18 votes) 8%
  • Other: Revise the structure and terms of the play-to-earn tier – 2,928,189 VP (11 votes) 37%

This poll generated great discussion in the DAO community. MrEric withdrew the proposal based on the community’s discussion.

Arguments for the proposal focused on the need for Decentraland to attract talented content creators in order to grow the world to compete with other emerging metaverses.

Arguments against the proposal focused on the narrow scope of the program, the rushed timeline, and the lack of discussion with the community contrasted with the exceptional grant size.

The DAO Committee would like to see the grants program expand in a more community oriented manner. No action will be taken by the DAO Committee.

Should the Curation Committee receive a Compensation for their work? (Revised)

  • Compensate Curators 50 MANA per item – 3,175,194 VP (20 votes) 99%
  • Compensate Curators, but find another rate – 1,714 VP (1 vote) 1%

This poll is a response to the previous poll on Curation Committee compensation. Notably, the DAO opted to pay committee members a fixed rate in MANA instead of USD denominated in MANA.

To enact this, the DAO Committee is setting up the payment process for curators using the pool of MANA on Polygon from the DAO’s wearable publishing fees.
